Cherry Mobile Empowers Communities in Accessing Essential Health Care

In an effort to make medical health care free and accessible to rural and urban poor communities, Cherry Mobile held an Operation Pap Smear and Operation Tuli in April, serving more than 60 women in Delpan, Manila, and almost a hundred male children in San Andres, Manila.

The Operation Tuli initiative was held in order to help the beneficiaries appreciate the health benefits of circumcision, such as reduced risk of acquiring Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s), penile cancer, and urinary tract infection (UTI).

Likewise, the Operation Pap Smear encouraged women to actively seek health care assistance and prevent cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in the Philippines but a few women were able to detect it in its early stages because they could not afford to undergo preventive measures. With the Operation Pap Smear, Cherry Mobile aimed not only to provide one-time medical assistance, but also to increase their level of awareness of the importance of preventive measures against cervical cancer and to empower them in accessing essential health care.

The recipients of Operation Pap Smear were happy women who were willing to learn more about cervical cancer prevention.

The activity gave the participants an overview on the importance of pap smear in cervical cancer prevention.

The Operation Pap Smear is a partnership among Cherry Mobile, Philippine Cancer Society, and DAMPA (Damayan ng Maralitang Pilipinong Api, Inc.)

Prior to the operation, volunteers conducted a counseling session on the benefits of circumcision and good personal hygiene with the young lads.

Volunteers encouraged the lads that were waiting in line for their turns in the operating room.

The Operation Tuli is a partnership among Cherry Mobile, Trends & Lifestyle Gadgets Corp, and Operation Blessing Foundation, Inc.

For Cherry Mobile, these two activities are a way of valuing their lifestyle by enriching first their health. By providing highly relevant programs and services to poor families, we show that we care for their current condition and help them improve it. By being there to help them transition from one phase of life to the next, we create a significant impact in their memories for the years to come.
