TROPANG Cherry (TRabaho at Oportunidad para sa bawat PAmilyANG Pilipino)

Barangay Cherry Mobile believes that genuine social development must be felt and experienced by every Juan. As the business community grows, the Filipino masses must also experience economic growth.  To attain this, the corporate social responsibility of Cherry Mobile initiated community economic development project dubbed as TROPANG Cherry or TRabaho at Oportunidad para sa bawat PAmilyANG Pilipino which started in March 2014. It continues this year, reaching more communities from poor areas in the country.

On the first quarter of 2015, Barangay Cherry Mobile conducted three succeeding training on basic entrepreneurship, business tips, and soap making. A total of 170 participants (unemployed and underemployed women, out of school youth, senior citizens, and a number of men who desired to earn extra income) attended the training in coordination with non-government organizations  namely Golden Hand Southwings Foundation, Inc. from Las Pinas City,  SPECS Foundation, Inc.-Paranaque City Branch and Alalay sa Kaunlaran, Inc. in Nueva Ecija.

Work that progresses to its next level is work that is not wasted. To ensure that work done to benefit the communities is not wasted, Barangay Cherry Mobile pours its efforts into sustainable projects that yield long term results.

The training aims to equip participants from all walks of life to start their income-generating activity.

Training on Soap Making and Business Tips also took place in Nueva Ecija in coordination with Alalay sa Kaunlaran Inc (ASKI). About a hundred participants from different parts of the province traveled to Talavera, Nueva Ecija, where the training venue was located, in order to receive this valuable training.

Attendees proudly showed their certificates of participation for a group shot.

Participants listened to a short session on basic entrepreneurship and business tips.

A number of men who wanted to earn extra income also joined the training.

Participants enjoyed the soap making hands-on activity during the training.

The training was made interactive by one of the trainers from Honorio Mc Lopez Technical Institute, Inc.

To ensure the success of the training, the participants were preselected by the partner organizations based on agreed criteria (i.e. unemployed/underemployed individuals that are desperately in need of extra source of income, with high inclination in business or with existing business).

Barangay Cherry Mobile believes that one way to truly help communities is to train and equip them with necessary skills and knowledge to support their needs. As the saying goes, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” By imparting valuable knowledge to deserving communities which they could apply to increase income for their households, the support that Barangay Cherry Mobile extends becomes more practical and sustaining.

These training are just the beginning of a year-long impartation of knowledge and practical business tips to more communities. There is still more to accomplish toward changing the country one community at a time. But by working with motivated partners, dealers, and volunteers, big breakthroughs will indeed be put on the record for each community that Barangay Cherry Mobile visits.
